Kita mungkin sudah familier dengan singkatan ybs., yth., dan a.n. Tiga singkatan tersebut lazim kita temui dalam dokumen formal, termasuk surat resmi. Namun, hari ini, saya menemukan singkatan yang baru pertama kali saya dengar, yakni d/h.
Singkatan tersebut digunakan oleh Bre Redana pada sebuah kolom opini bertajuk “Apa Pantas Perempuan Keluar Malam Sendirian” dalam Harian Kompas. Beliau menulis, “Bahkan, di Ho Chi Minh City (d/h Saigon) yang saya kunjungi beberapa waktu lalu untuk memenuhi ajakan teman nonton final Piala Dunia di sebuah bar, saya merasakan lingkungan yang ‘ramah perempuan’.”
Saya lantas mencari arti d/h di KBBI dan tidak menemukan apa-apa.
Ketika mencarinya lewat Google, saya akhirnya mengetahui bahwa d/h mengartikan ‘dahulu’. Singkatan tersebut, pasalnya, kerap digunakan pada penulisan surat resmi. Apabila mengikuti standar penulisan singkatan versi EYD, d/h tidak ditulis dengan garis miring, tetapi cukup diakhiri dengan tanda titik sehingga penulisannya menjadi dh.
Di luar itu, saya menemukan singkatan-singkatan lain yang mungkin belum pernah Kerabat Nara dengar. Ada u.p. yang berarti ‘untuk perhatian’, u.b. yang memaknai ‘untuk beliau’, dan d.a. yang merupakan singkatan dari ‘dengan alamat’. Selain itu, ada pula kata dalam yang disingkat menjadi dl. dan sama dengan di atas yang singkatannya adalah sda.
Herannya, di antara sederet singkatan dalam surat resmi yang telah saya sebutkan di atas, hanya dh. yang tidak ada pada KBBI V.
