Narabahasa kembali melaksanakan Kicauan Narabahasa (Kinara) pada Sabtu, 6 Juni 2026. Pada episode ke-72 ini, Narabahasa berdiskusi dengan Asep Ardian, penulis buku Oni Jouska. Karya yang dirilis para 2024 ini masuk dalam daftar pendek penghargaan sastra Kusala Sastra Khatulistiwa 2025. Episode ini dipandu oleh Muhammad Rauf sebagai moderator dan dilaksanakan pada pukul 16.00–17.00 WIB di Spaces X.
Rauf memulai diskusi dengan menyoroti tokoh pada buku tersebut. Oni Jouska membawa cerita tentang kehidupan seekor ikan remora yang cacat. Menurut Asep, pemilihan karakter berawal dari eksplorasi cerita. “Sebelum menulis Oni Jouska, saya telah menulis delapan cerpen yang bertujuan untuk melihat cara terbaik untuk menceritakan kisah ini.” Asep menambahkan bahwa bercerita tentang keluh kesah pribadi melalui karakter hewan dapat memberikan kebebasan seakan-akan bercerita ketika menggunakan topeng. Konsep ini juga tertuang pada pemilihan judul, tepatnya pada kata Jouska. Asep menjelaskan bahwa kata tersebut bermakna ‘kegiatan imajiner berupa berbicara dengan diri sendiri’.
Selanjutnya, Asep mengungkapkan tantangan yang ia hadapi ketika menulis Oni Jouska. Menurutnya, penceritaannya adalah bagian tersulit. Selain karena menjadi karya pertamanya, buku yang ditulis selama lima tahun ini menuntut Asep untuk melakukan penelusuran yang dalam terkait dunia kelautan itu sendiri. Di sisi lain, karena buku ini membawa isu lingkungan dan Asep ingin menyampaikan pesannya ke masyarakat luas, buku ini ditulis dengan bahasa yang ringan. Asep menganggap bahwa buku ini adalah kontribusi kecilnya terhadap lingkungan dengan menceritakan isu-isu yang nyata.
Asep yang juga seorang penjual batagor menjelaskan caranya dalam membagi waktu untuk menulis Oni Jouska. “Waktu kita sebenarnya banyak asalkan [kita] dapat mengalokasikannya dengan baik. Dulu, ketika menulis Oni Jouska, saya juga kecanduan bermain gim dan bergulir di media sosial. Ketika saya fokus untuk menyelesaikan proyek tulisan ini, prosesnya berjalan lebih cepat dan saya mampu menghasilkan lebih banyak tulisan,” jelas Asep.
Terakhir, Asep menceritakan harapannya melalui Oni Jouska. Ia berharap masyarakat dapat mulai menulis. Bagi Asep, menulis telah menyelamatkannya sebagai medium penyaluran emosi yang produktif. “Ketika kita bisa menulis atau melukis, luapkanlah keresahan tersebut menjadi sebuah karya. Saya percaya, jika tidak diluapkan, keresahan itu justru akan berubah menjadi hal yang dapat merusak, dalam bentuk apa pun,” ucapnya.
Melalui acara ini, Narabahasa berharap masyarakat dapat mendapatkan inspirasi untuk mulai berkarya dalam bentuk apa pun, terutama tulisan. Narabahasa juga berharap cerita Asep Ardian dapat membantu untuk memahami proses penulisan, baik secara penciptaan ide, penggalian isu, hingga cara penggambaran yang berbeda.
